Nathan Hunt has a background in fine stone carving for architects and artists which has informed the way he designs and constructs his furniture. His approach to furniture is one of experimentation that is inspired by structural forms found in architecture and industry, such as a steel frame or wooden truss, as well as forms of the natural environment from mountain topography to forms inherent in stone. These influences have presented uses that challenge the traditions conventionally associated with age-old materials like marble.
